I don't seem to go a whole day without creating something, anything, of late! This is a wonderful feeling and it is good to know that although I am not routinely working on large pieces.......every now and then I find I am blessed with inspiration and this makes me happy! I have taken a few mixed media & drawing art classes from my (area) local artists and Paulette Insall (net, Oregon) and the one continuous thread from all of them ~ don't overthink things, don't beat yourself up, and above all else, just be you! Like I said ~ happy!

Friendship for TGIF!

Polka Dots for Tag You're It!

Almost feeling a little 'goth' with this black feather but I couldn't help myself when I happened upon my fly tying supply source! I was so happy to find this challenge ~ I just love making tags. This is my torso tag template. Frequently I will finish it with beeswax, today just a thin coat of gesso over the bright red polka dot background. The torso is too thick for sewing today!

Blue & Green for TGIF!

So I'm a little in awe of sewing on paper........I completed three skinnies yesterday (this is not one of them)~ only one of the three similar designs had sewing on paper ~ and I must admit the sewn one is the best.........so now I have stamping, collage sheet images, inking and sewing on paper! Love it!

Green Paris Collage

This beautiful image came to me for free from Michelle @ Digital Collage Sheets. I signed up for her newsletter and voila~the much awaited 'Green' collage sheet was shared by the wonderful gal! In the meantime I love MMM and I had just finished creating this, no theme in mind, and thought I'd look for a challenge to share in ~ and bam! Diane @ MMM provided my stage, lol! Edit to say: Barb (guest host @ MMM)!

Seriously though, isn't blog land such a wonderful place to grow, learn and share? It seems like only a few short months ago that I became interested in challenges and I have been so enriched because of them!

I love the beauty of the face of this lady! Genuine, 100 percent beauty she is! You know what I love best about contributing in TGIF? It really is TGIF and off I go for the last shift of the week! I remember the days of being a stay-at-home-artist and now I look forward to making my way back!

Homage for IF

Have you heard of Postage People? I wonder if H. C. Andersen would appreciate the postal stamp image placed on top of a different figure, the opposite sex, too? It wasn't until after I had decided to pair these two that I realised the ironic significance between the book the woman is holding and the famous author. This postage stamp is one magnificent piece of artwork! Credit where credit is due ~ I pay homage to Hans and the artist that created this amazing stamp! Read about the famous Danish writer here. Words Are A Heavy Thing...for IF

This IF contribution is again my WIP for 'Organic Backgrounds' class. This class has been such a pleasure and I highly recommend this kind of artistic exploration via the web. Really it's like taking a class at your local community centre (for the same $$ if not less) and it is soo much fun.

This week's IF theme 'Heavy' has been fun and the perfect answer for the words/quotation I was looking for my WIP. IF has been such a pleasure since I tried it a number of weeks ago (for the first time) even more so this week, as it led me to find this rather elusive quote from some/the writers of Northern Exposure in 1992....it seems rather stunning to me now that was 16 years ago!

This truly is 'One-of-a-kind' art. I received this absolute treasure in the mail this week from Palmer @ Bella Casa.....so amazing! I have been so fortunate! You've just got to see the beautiful things here. I won this treasure during the One World-One Heart event. I know there are many others in 'blog land' that have been touched too. Dream of Roses for IF 'Garden'

My entry for IF is again a compilation of artistic events...isn't it at times profound how what begins as one thing can become something else; altogether different? I sometimes wonder, during the creative process, if art doesn't simply become what it was always meant to be.
This canvas has been part of my work for Paulette Insall's 'Organic Backgrounds' class. Instinctively, or not, I'm not too sure, I just found the colour impact of the brown lettering and the green of the dark stamped Ivy leaves made me think of the richly coloured earth in the spring and of course the roses before they bloom here in the early summer garden......the irony of the lettering (which is not clearly legible) "Art is letting your fingers capture what your heart is hearing"~stamp available here
